Non-Profit Biography

In 1975, joined by their desire to improve the Jacksonville landscape, a small group of citizens began the not-for-profit organization Greenscape of Jacksonville, Inc. The first project focused on the downtown area. Cooperating with the City of Jacksonville through the Jacksonville Downtown Development Authority, Greenscape planted 250 commemorative trees along downtown sidewalk.
Greenscape gradually directed its focus outward from the center of the city, sharing the responsibility of tree planting in the Jacksonville area with interested neighborhood and community groups. Today, the organization is credited with over 250,000 trees added to our local canopy. In addition to its own tree planting projects, Greenscape clearly sees its role as a catalyst for change. The organization has reached out to neighborhoods, institutions and governmental agencies with many exciting and innovative projects.
Greenscape has set the environmental standard in Jacksonville by its active participation at all levels, on issues pertaining to trees. By working with the City of Jacksonville in an advisory capacity to establish the City’s Landscape Ordinance, serving on the Mayor’s Environmental Advisory Committee, JEA’s Tree Coalition, and the Keep Jacksonville Beautiful Commission, Greenscape continues to further the awareness of the importance of our tree canopy to the health and economic well-being of our community. The organization has received numerous awards and recognition on local, state and national levels.

Gallery Biography
Corse Gallery & Atelier was established just three short years ago and is already recognized nationally as a leader among galleries.  Recent articles and interviews in Artist Advocate Magazine, American Art Collector Magazine, and  arbus Magazine all speak to the gallery's stronghold in the art community on both the local and national levels.  The gallery offers a cornucopia of artwork by local, regional and national artists.  Some of the gallery's artists are emerging onto the art scene, and some have been painting for years.  In addition, the gallery offers artists the opportunity to enroll in three- to five-day painting workshops conducted by some of the finest artists in the United States.  Drawing students from all around the world, these workshops are in high demand.  The gallery also offers fine custom framing with our framer, Mary Doppel, who has 15 years' experience.
